To change or not to change???

Bagel is currently on dry kibbles. Have tried various brands and eventually settled on two. The previous brand got recalled and just heard from the petshop I frequent that the current one I'm using have got problems too. Hence am contemplating on switching to home cooked food. What do you guys think? All help and comments will be much appreciated.

Concerns are will home cook food provide a balance diet? If not, what supplements to add? What if over feed supplements? How much to feed?

Time wise that should not pose a problem as I'm usually quite free and when I'm not, I've got a helper at home to help with cooking. And does home cook food or kibbles lead to longer life? Internet provides mixed answers.
